Iron Maiden en Chile - 22 de Marzo 2009 - Club Hípico de Santiago.

Siguiendo con el éxito internacional de la gira "SOMEWHERE BACK IN TIME 2008", Iron Maiden volará nuevamente en 2009 para la cuarta y última parte, comenzando en Dubai el 13 de Febrero.

Cargados con todo el equipo que acompaña a la banda más 12 toneladas de equipamiento, La banda volará una vez más en el Avión Ed Force One piloteado por el Capitán de Astraeus Airlines y vocalista Bruce Dickinson.

Serán más de 80.000 kms. alrrededor del planeta por 19 ciudades en once paises.

Iron Maiden en Chile 2009
22 de Marzo - Club Hípico de Santiago.

Iron Maiden acaba de cerrar su retorno a Santiago. Será con un masivo concierto, el domingo 22 de marzo en el Club Hípico, y la preocupación de las autoridades del lugar es clara: "Trataremos de que el escenario tenga una orientación específica, para que el ruido y la convocatoria no afecten a los 1.200 caballos que tenemos dentro".

Lynn Aldridge, jefa de eventos del recinto, es quien alerta. Y no se equivoca: el pronóstico habla del arrastre en el país de una de las bandas esenciales del heavy metal. Iron Maiden regresa sólo un año después de su último show, el 9 de marzo pasado en la Pista Atlética, y la ambición es juntar a 50 mil personas en el mayor concierto que hayan dado en escenarios locales. Se trata del cierre del tour de grandes éxitos "Somewhere back in time", que tiene sus últimas fechas en India, Nueva Zelandia y Latinoamérica.

La visita de los ingleses abulta una cartelera 2009 que ya se perfila de lujo. Será justo cinco días antes de otro súper estelar: Radiohead en San Carlos de Apoquindo, quienes juntarían la misma cantidad de gente si se confirma un segundo concierto.

El aterrizaje de los hombres de "The number of the beast" consagra de paso al Club Hípico como una locación válida para shows: es el único que hoy ofrece capacidad para más de 30 mil personas. Por ahí también pasarán la segunda Cumbre del Rock Chileno (11 de enero), y Elton John y James Blunt (24 del mismo mes). El recinto de calle Blanco Encalada está en camino a llenar el vacío dejado por el Estadio Nacional, que estará cerrado en el primer trimestre del próximo año y con disponibilidad sólo para el deporte.

La intención de la productora tras Maiden era llevarlos al coliseo ñuñoíno, tal como lo sugirió su vocalista, Bruce Dickinson, en su última visita. La negativa de los administradores del estadio obligó al cambio.

Eddie fue encontrado muerto en el cuarto de baño de una habitación del hotel Marriot en la ciudad de Minneapolis, Minnesota, en Estados Unidos, el 13 de noviembre de 2005. Sus restos fueron sepultados en Phoenix, Arizona, lugar donde pensaba mudarse con su familia para acompañar a su amigo, el retirado luchador "Superstar" Billy Graham.

Se presume que Guerrero programó el servicio de despertador del hotel ese día a las siete de la mañana, sin embargo, al no tener respuesta en su habitación, su sobrino Chavo Guerrero, Jr. intentó llamarlo sin lograr este objetivo. Por este motivo, el personal de seguridad del hotel abrió la puerta, encontrando muerto a Guerrero. La WWE lo confirmó en una conferencia de prensa.

Para muchos de sus conocidos ya les parecía extraño que antes de su muerte Guerrero le decía prolongadas veces a su esposa que se encontraba mal y se sentía agotado. Después de la autopsia los doctores confirmaron que murió a consecuencia de un ataque y que éste ya sufría problemas cardiacos, lo que provocaba que se cansara por su exigente profesión de luchador. La viuda de Guerrero aclaró en una entrevista del sitio web de la WWE que el forense del condado de Hennepin, le reafirmó el problema del corazón como causante de su muerte.

Chavo Guerrero declaró además que Eddie se encontraba entrenando arduamente, lo que lo hacía estar muy cansado físicamente. Stephanie McMahon, en una conferencia de prensa, declaró que sólo 2 días después de su muerte, Eddie iba a derrotar a Batista y Randy Orton, logrando ganar su primer Campeonato Mundial Peso Pesado...
